Musicals

Have I mentioned I LOVE musicals? The lighting, the songs, the plots, the dancing and about everything else. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are mine! I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with them. It might have been during music appreciation class in high school. Or the constant watching every old movie on AMC (before the station got a little weird.)  But I’m willing to guess that I fell in love in elementary when my family would go to my grandparent’s house in Kansas for a weekend. I couldn’t tell you which one I saw first but I remember vividly seeing Cats and Pirates of Penzance for the first time there in their living room. My brother didn’t enjoy them, but I waited patiently for those evenings where we would watch them. I was so fascinated by CATs singing and a pirate who was born on February 29.

When I got an opportunity to live in New York for four months, my mom and I planned on me seeing at least one Broadway show while I was there. I don’t remember why I chose Chicago, but I’m still extremely happy I chose it.

Then this past February, I got the opportunity to go to Wicked!!! I don’t know how I would have gotten a ticket except for the amazingness of God. Lottery the last night, didn’t get called,but the lady behind me did. She walked up to me as everyone was leaving and asked me if I had ever seen it. And then asked me to go with her. She even paid for my ticket! It was an amazing moment! It was so amazing! It was a moment I’m not going to forget.
Needless to say after that amazingness, me and my friends decided to go to Beauty and the Beast -a Broadway Musical. But more on that later!
