At the end of June, my hubby and I took an AMAZING roadtrip/vacation to California. It was such an unique trip that I can’t help but share the experience with you guys! You could probably guess if you were following my Instagram account during this craziness that it was one amazing moment after the next so that means multiple posts of me reliving the amazingness!!!
For the first two days of our roadtrip, we hopped on the Amtrak train, the Southwest Chief from Kansas City, Mo to Los Angeles, CA. It was definitely an experience. Yahtzee, our adorable puppy, was left at PetSmart for the week with those awesome people. (I think some of them wish she was theirs.) Once in Kansas City, explored a little and had lunch at Fritiz’s with one of my friends from KC, Jen.
We boarded from Union Station at 10pm on a Tuesday and were scheduled to arrive at 8am on Thursday morning. It didn’t ended up like the plan but that it was okay. Getting on to the train at night was a little un-nerving just because you’re walking into an environment that you have never been into before. And it’s a SMALL space. Let me repeat that a SMALL space! Our room was already into the bunk beds to sleep on, so we transformed it back so we could sit and just get our bearings. 
We learned a lot that night such as I shouldn’t sit backwards on a train for more than a few hours… (Ugh, not what I wanted to learn) Also how to sleep on the bunkbeds in the tiny room. The next morning we woke up in Kansas to a little rain shower and breakfast… Which to an upset tummy actually tasted YUMMY! Loved all of the food on the train, don’t think there was anything that I absolutely hated.
The day was full of beautiful scenery, naps, unique meal partners (Mennonites, artists, a couple from Austria — a fashion designer and an international lawyer) and a few minor problems… We also got to spend some time on the observation level — a dome car. There were tons of people in it, but the views were spectacular. 
Like a scenic unplanned stop in Colorado and a 3hour visit in Albuquerque for engine problems. But at least I got a COKE and an awesome turtle necklace!!! The Greyhound bus next to the train really freaked some people out. 
We arrived at 1130 am in LA, just about 3 hours or so after we were supposed to arrive.
