Mom’s Project | Memories

IMG_7030A lot of people have tons of photo albums and pictures just rolling around in a trunk or picture safe. Well a few years ago, I found this program called Blurb.com. I fell in love with it. It’s basically an on the computer scrapbook program. You click and drag pictures into the photo design you want. I became so in love with it that now I do a yearly scrapbook book via Blurb.com. I started thinking about other things I could do with that system. With Blurb, once you upload it, you can order as many copies as you like.

Then I went to Mom and dad’s. We happened to move the picture box (a metal large, awkward thing to move). All I could think was I wish I had a copy of my parent’s wedding photos. I wish I had this copy of me and my brother or this one of all the family or this fishing trip I didn’t remember. I started looking through the box and said ‘Mom, why don’t we scan all the pictures we want in and then create a blurb book or two with all those pictures? We could even give everyone a copy of it.”  Needless to say, she loved the idea and I started scanning and sorting the rest of the week I was there. Now as the scanning is about finish, I’m looking at a daunting task of resorting them! (Word to the wise: Scan after you have sorted… Sometimes resorting on the computer can be a pain)

It might be a super huge project, but I am already dreaming of the completed project. Thumbing through all of the pictures that we have forgotten and remembering again the fun times of growing up. Yeah, at some point, I’ll have to stop or slow down with the project. But for now, it’s a blast!

How are you keeping all of your pictures? Locked up on a computer? In a photo box buried under the bed? In the cedar chest?

(Nope, Blurb.com is not paying me. I just seriously love their products and customer service!!!)
