Our last day in San Fransisco and in California happened to hit on the Fourth of July. I was super excited about seeing the fireworks! However I didn’t think about the crowds or how long of a day it would be before our flight the next morning. Our first stop was to the Fenton Creamery, which was the place that was in the movie UP! The food, I wouldn’t call the best ever… But that shake! Wow, I loved it!
After lunch, it was time to turn in the car and become subway riders…. Look at one of the few pictures the grump let me take. (For all the time, I lived in New York. I never took one picture in the subway. I have a pictures someone took of me there, but that was it…)
Our plan was to take the subway til we got to where the Cable Cars were and then ride them up to the pier. Neither of us counted on how many other people would have the same idea. While we waited, I got a couple of fun pictures of the cars! We waited for about an hour and a half til they let us jump on in the middle part where NO ONE was sitting for like 4 cars…
The pier area was amazing. There was a Ghirardelli sign and a store! Plus there was even a little mall area.
It was amazing to see how many people had already claimed their seats for the fireworks at like 1 or 2 p.m. It was crazy!
Since we had an early dinner and both of us didn’t want to wait forever for dinner. We decided on an early dinner as well at Fog Harbor! There were massive windows for the beautiful views of the bay area. And the food was amazing!!! SEAFOOD!!!!
After a long discussion over dinner about where to watch the fireworks at, we decided to look and see if there were any firework cruise still available and do it. There was! We went out on the Blue and Gold Ship for the fireworks and got to see a view of the city from the bay… However, there was a little fog and it was a little cold.
But the fog made the fireworks super neat!!!
After the fireworks, we walked/hiked back to the subway station… Those hills were horrible…. But I did see a hotel I want to look into the Sir Francis Drake …
We got back to the hotel in time for a two hour nap or less and then hopped on the hotel shuttle to catch our plane.
It definitely was a whirlwind vacation with a lot of hiccups but man, was it fun! I can’t wait until the roadtrip.
