10 reasons to go to a Photography Conference/Workshop

This past summer, I spent a week with some incredible people all around this lovely USA. They ranged from hobbyist photographers to those who have a established business and are doing it full time! It was one of the most awesome experiences I have ever had. It had been awhile since I had attended any other conference. The last one was in 2012 in Canada, oh the views and the models… and the MOUNTAINS!!!  It was way past time for me to go to another one.  If you are considering going to a conference or a workshop, do it! And here are 10 reasons why you should go.

1. You are going to connect with some AWESOME people who are very much like you. Which means you have an awesome system of support, etc.

2. You have to step out of your comfort zone. And that, my friend, is where the cool things happen.

3. The classes. You have a chance to go to classes about things you don’t know a lot about or know only a little bit.

4. You get a chance to ask questions! Questions about work flow, posing, locations, and anything else you can think about…

5. New locations, new faces, new inspirations!

6. Exposure the good kind of exposure.

7. You push your limits and shoot something you may be have never before.

8. Connections to models, hair and makeup people, designers, dreamers, and other photographers. You never know what will happen next.

9. You get to PLAY! You get to try new ideas, new angles, new lenses, cameras, etc. These images are yours. So you get to learn new techniques.

10. The conversations outside of the conference/workshop. I have  learned so many things by just hanging in the hotel room or staying around a bit. Or even in the little breaks between stuff. Conversations…

I can’t wait for my next ones…
